Cerro-Azul, Panama, Creature

Lon, at your report site, you had an account of a "goat child" some time ago. The fact that this creature has a lolling black tongue and hairless skin in part like that of the goat child, makes me think this might be something like that. I also think we should know if the animal was stoned before it died, or afterwards. We need some CSI data on this.

I just zoomed the top picture 500% and examined it. I quickly came to the conclusion that, in my belief, it's pretty clearly a sloth. Notice in the top picture, top left corner shows hair on the animal's right hip, consistent hair type as a sloth. Also, in the center of the right half of the image you can clearly see one tell-tale enormous claw of a sloth. Poor thing must have drowned in rough weather. Sad.

BadgirlIam, you have called it right. That is a sloth claw just visible in that upper right-hand corner of the picture. In a book by Time-Life, I have seen a picture of a sloth actually swimming in flood waters from the top of one tree to another. Possibly, this poor guy tried to do the same thing, but did not make it. Is the case closed? I would like to know more about how the children came to encounter the critter before they allegedly stoned it to death.< Hairlessness: Call this the account of the squashed raccoon on the side of the highway. While out of town in the country for a week or two, I was able to observe the degeneration of the carcass of a road kill raccoon. Natural forces denuded the skin of all the hair, leaving it pink and naked, before the flattened body went into its final stages of decay. I also have seen the remains of a dog that had become snagged half in and half out of fast-running flood waters. From the middle of the back forward, where the dog's body had been in the water, all the hair was completely washed away. From the middle of the back to the tail, where the body had been out of the water altogether, the hair remained! Do you find this valuable? |
