Child ghosts: In the 1980s, in Bunkie, Louisiana, I had occasion to see the ghost of a child of about 5-6 years old. She stood in the doorway of a little country church, facing the churchyard with all its above-ground tombs. The child had blonde hair done up in "Shirley Temple" curls, and was dressed in a rose-pink dress in the high-waisted "empire" fashion. When I went over to look at the doorway in which the child stood, she vanished, and both the out screen door and the solid inner door were found to be closed tight!

"Boy" ghost: To research the clothing the child you saw was wearing, visit your local library and find books on the history of clothing and fashion. Draw a picture of what you remember of what you saw so you don't start thinking that something you see in a book is what you saw.

My first ghost encounter: I do not say this to brag. From the time I was about 3 to 4 years old, I was aware that there were other people in the house besides my Mom and Dad. However, Mom and Dad did not seem to be aware of them. The church we went to did not talk about such things, so I did not talk about my experiences with Mom or Dad, nor anyone else. What was certain was that the manifestations -- clouds of scent (sometimes stink), orbs, full-form ghosts, and "intelligent presences" -- all seemed to enter through the back wall of the ground floor of the house, travel straight through, and exit through the front door. Always this was on a direction going due west to due east.
