Watch
does this happen most in cold weather? We can hear the intercom of a plant a quarter of a mile away on cold nights and our ductwork amplifies the sounds further. A train used by this same plant sounds like it's right in our bedroom on really cold nights when it's sitting idling on the track down by that plant. At times we can even hear the "beep, beep, beep, beep..." of trucks backing up down there. A neighbor had a van that had this "beeping" for backing up feature which was very annoying whenever she came in late at night. Alot of vehicles have this feature now so beware of this. You could also have the beginnings of a hearing problem. I have epilepsy and at times I hear beeping or just a high pitched long beep which weakens in seconds to nothing. This indicates a seizure is occurring. Try audio recordings to be sure it's not your hearing or another physical problem causing this. Crazy is a broad derrogatory term usually used by ignorant people to demean others. Doctors use it only to tell you that you aren't crazy. Past that I wouldn't assume there isn't an appliance behind this if you get an audio recording of it. I dug half the night one night to discover a long forgotten CO2 detector buried in a storage box in the basement. The batteries had been left in it. Hope this helps.

Watch
I myself have heard random beeps, or squeals, or screeches, but I generally attribute them to the fact that our bodies are biochemical entities that produce electrical charges, and sometimes there are short circuits. I really wouldn't think more of it unless the people that produced these claims said that they happened on a regular basis.
Furthermore, certain frequencies of sound penetrate solid objects just fine, thus the sound seeming to come from a room that it really may not come from. I'm not saying that your regular run-o-the-mill Mickey Mouse watch can push through a lead wall but I will say that particular watches left in malicious ways can sound like they're coming from nowhere and everywhere at the same time. I once drove a friend crazy for over six months with a device I hid in his house. Once he found it the jig was up, but before that all he knew was that some sound randomly sounded out late at night that seemed to come from everywhere.
